Vijayashanti was born on 24-06-1966 in Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. She is an Indian Film Actress, Film Producer & Politician who is known for her work in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bollywood and Kannada cinema.

Vijayashanti Complete Bio & Career

Vijayashanti completed her school education from the famous Holly Angeles High School in Chennai. Soon after completion of her schooling, she got associated with the film industry. She made her acting debut with the Tamil film Kallukkul Eeram in the year 1980. Soon after her Tamil language film debut, she made her Telugu film debut with the film titled Khiladi Krishnudu.She rose to fame after acting in the Telugu film Neti Bharatam in 1983. In a couple of year’s time, she became the most glamour’s actress of Telugu film industry. She dominated the decade of the 1980s with her performance in films like Gang Leader, Muddula Mavayya, Pasivadi Pranam, Yamudiki Mogudu and Rudranetra among many others. She was among the most attractive and popular personalities of the 1980s. 
 
She worked with almost all the top and noted actors of Telugu cinema. She did as many as 16 and 19 films with Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi respectively. In the 1990s, she became one of the highest paid actresses in the industry demanding as much as 10million rupees per film. After winning Nandi Award twice, she finally won her first National film award for her performance in the Telugu film Karthavyam in 1990. The film was dubbed in Tamil and Hindi language films as well. Her performance in this film is considered as the best performance of her illustrious acting career. She was given the title of “Lady Amitabh” after this film. 
 
She made her foray into politics in the year 1997 by joining the National political party Bhartiya Janta Party. She after some rift with the party started her own political front called Talli Telangana in 2009. Her party then merged with the bigger regional party called TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) and was elected as an MP from the Medak constituency. After losing the 2014 elections, she officially announced that she is retiring from active politics. She in 2016 announced that she will make her comeback on the silver screen once she finds a suitable script.
