Akhil Akkineni was born to actors and hence he too decided to become an actor from a very early age. To learn acting, he enrolled at the the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. Though he made his acting debut at the tender age of 1 as a child actor through Siva Nageswara Rao's film Sisindri his official acting debut came in the film titled Manam in the year 2014. He made his debut as a lead role through the Telugu film Akhil in the year 2015. The film was an instant hit and he too won Best Debut Award as well for his performance in the film. Post this film, he was on a hiatus for 2 years and came back with the film titled Hello. the film couldn't garner numbers at the box-office but was appreciated by the critics. He was necxt seen in Venky Alturi's romantic comedy drama film Mr. Majnu in 2019. He will be next seen in the film titled Most Eligible Bachelor. In addition to films, he is also a huge star on social media and has nearly 2million followers on Instagram.
