Being a skillful child Bikram Choudhury started learning Hatha Yoga poses at the age of three. He immigrated to the United States in the 1970s and founded and established Bikram Yoga studios in California and Hawaii. Bikram Yoga is a form of hot yoga, performed in a hot environment of 40 °C (104 °F) is offered through affiliated Bikram Yoga Studios all around the world. Practicing hot yoga in such high temperature, Bikram calls these studios “Torture Chambers”. The professionally managed organization is run by various experienced health and fitness professionals. The organization is effective in attracting millions of students across the world. In the 1990s, he started nine-week teacher certification courses. Certified instructors are carrying out Yoga sessions in Bikram Yoga studios around the globe. The participants had experienced profound physical, mental, and emotional benefits of Bikram Yoga.
For his fascinated followers the dexterous Yoga teacher has published various books about his techniques of Bikram Yoga, namely Bikram's Beginning Yoga Class in 1978 and Bikram Yoga: The Guru Behind Hot Yoga Shows the Way to Radiant Health and Personal Fulfillment in 2007.
