Nutan Thakur is a social activist, journalist, and writer from Lucknow Uttar Pradesh. He is born in Lukhnow, Uttar Pradesh India. The lady works for Institute for Research and Documentation in Social Sciences (IRDS). She is also known as the wife of Amitabh who is a senior Uttar Pradesh Police officer Thakur. She is also an ex-member of the Bharti Janta Party.

She is the secretary of the Institute for Research and Documentation in Social Sciences (IRDS) She had also known for raising many issues related to Human Rights violations which include that of Binayak Sen, Seema Azad, etc. She is involved in various activities with its associates and volunteers working in different states of India, in the National RTI Forum.  

The lady also protests for pursuing the cause of awarding Padma awards to Manjunath Shanmugam and Satyendra Dubey. She raised her service for these two bright, young, and dedicated young persons who had fought against corruption and were murdered in the way. Then in 2014, she files petitioning for various public causes. She also imposed a condition of amount Rs 25,000 with every PIL (Public Interest Litigation)by the Allahabad High Court. It is also stated to her that the money deposited money by her would be returned to her otherwise it would be confiscated.

In 2014, the lady had filed 86 PILs in the High Court. She then approached the Indian Supreme Court to appeal the High Court order for further assistance. But the Supreme Court upheld the Allahabad High Court order. The court observed that it was only to ensure that she wouldn't henceforth file frivolous petitions. She is very hardworking and continues her work with her spirit.
