Ram Nath Kovind comes from the truest part of Indian society..i.e. agrarian, rural, and socially and economically underprivileged. Mr. Kovind realized the importance of education from a very young age and thus even though he belonged to a very humble background still acquired B.Com and LLB degree from the Kanpur University.
 
He was failing in the first two attempts of civil services exams that cleared it on his third attempt but he backed out as he wanted to become an IAS but was selected for allied services. He, therefore, started practicing law in Delhi and provided free legal aid to the underprivileged people. He practiced law for almost 16 years in the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India from 1977 to 1993.
 
His foray into politics began when he joined BJP in 1991. He has since then been loyal and one of the hardest-working members of the party. He even donated his ancestral home of Derapur to the RSS. He was made the President of the party’s wing named BJP Dalit Morcha from 1998 to 2002. He was nominated for Rajya Sabha in 1994 and served two terms in Rajya Sabha till 2006. He was appointed as Bihar’s Governor in 2015 by the President of India and held his position for two years until he was nominated for the office of the President of India in July 2017.
 
The President’s office in India has remained non-controversial since 1947 barring a couple of episodes. Mr. Kovind with complete mastery of the Constitution of India, affable nature,  and a gentle temperament perfectly suits this coveted job. While he was a Rajya Sabha MP, he had quite a bit of Global exposure and that will come handy during his term as the President of India as he will be interacting with the leaders from all across the world.
