Sangeeta Bijlani Complete Bio & Career

Sangeeta Bijlani rose to fame after winning the Miss India title in the year 1980. The very same year she also won the National Costume Award at Miss Universe competition. Needless to say that soon after her achievements, Bollywood offers started coming her way. She started featuring in some famous television commercials such as Nirma Detergent, Nirma Soap, Graviera Suitings and Vicco Turmeric cream among many others.
 
She made her acting debut with the Bollywood film Qatil in 1988.She then starred in multi-starrer film Tridev the following year and this film scored gold at the box-office and so did her popularity. The famous song of the film titled 'Raat Bar Jhaam Se Jhaam Takrayega" which was picturised on her and Jackie Shroff became immensely popular.
 
Soon her acting graph started declining and among 23 films that she did in a career spanning 10 years only a couple of movies did well at the box-office and she after her marriage retired completely from acting. Jagannath released in 1997 was her last film.
 
In addition to the silver screen, she has appeared on the small screen as well. Her performance in the serial Chandini was well received.

She was born to Motilal Pandey & Poonam Bijlani in a Sindhi family. She was linked with several of her co-stars and was engaged to Salman Khan for a brief period. She called off the engagement and started dating Somy Ali. Their relation too didn’t last long and after romancing briefly with ace cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin the couple married on 14-11-1996. The couple divorced after 14 years of their marriage in 2010.
