Srinivasa Ramanujan Complete Bio & Career

Srinivasa Ramanujan was a famous Indian mathematician from the British Rule era in India. He is known for his contributions to number theory, mathematical analysis, continued fractions and continued fractions. He provided solutions to the problems which were considered as unsolvable that time. He passed primary examinations in Tamil, English, arithmetic, and geography in 1897. He attended Town Higher Secondary School and later enrolled to Government Arts College. But he did not pass in other subjects because of his interest in Mathematics and failed. He attended Pachaiyappa's College at Madras for his education but failed to pass in rest subjects and left the college without a degree. He started research on Mathematics independently. V. Ramaswamy Aiye who was Indian Mathematical Society's founder noticed his work and he started working at the University of Madras as a researcher.
 
He produced mathematical research on his own and Indian mathematicians started recognizing his work.Later he and the G. H. Hardy, who was the English mathematician from Cambridge University, started a postal partnership.Hardy recognized his work and made sure that travel for Ramanujan can come to Cambridge.Hardy was impressed with his mathematical research.He produced groundbreaking new theorems, He had also rediscovered the proven theorems and the results were more advanced.
 
He had compiled more than 3900 equations and identities independently.His original work included partition formulae, the Ramanujan theta function, mock theta functions and the Ramanujan prime.Almost all of his claims were correct. A peer-reviewed scientific journal ‘The Ramanujan Journal’ was published with work influenced by Ramanujan.His work both published and unpublished was later analyzed and was deeply studied for new mathematical ideas.
 
He was a religious person and believed in spirituality.He was quiet and shy with dignified personality.He had a strong belief in a family goddess, Mahalakshmi and found inspiration in her.He was a strictly vegetarian.His eating habits, the way of living and the cultural difference between his native place and England made his stay at England tough. He was suffering from ill health during his stay in England.He returned to his home country after 5 years due to the health issues.He was suffering from what now called as ‘amoebiasis ‘.He died the very next year after coming back to India.His discoveries from the last days of his life are in his "lost notebook" which was rediscovered in 1976.
