Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu was born on 23rd August 1872. He was an Indian politician and an active freedom fighter, served as the Chief Minister of the Madras Presidency, and later became the first chief minister of the new state of Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh government declared his birth anniversary a state festival.
