Aalap Raju was born on 06-06-1979 in Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. He is an Indian Playback Singer, Musician & Singer who known for his work in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Bollywood films.

Aalap Raju is a very famous Musician and Playback Singer from Chennai. In his school days, he always showed his interest towards cricket and wanted to be a professional cricketer to represent India at International level. However, destiny has planned something more interesting for him, during his under graduation days in Loyola College his friends inspired him to take up bass guitar and singing. He gave his very first performance in IIT Chennai fest Saarang and received Best Instrumentalist for his bass playing.
In his starting days of the career as a singer and bass player, he gave many performances with several prominent artists like Frank Dubier, Dr. T.V. Gopalakrishnan, Dr. L. Subramaniam etc. He has worked with many composers like Deepak Dev, Harris Jayaraj, Thaman etc. He has been a part of Prestigious event Europalia Festival'13 hosted by Indian Council for Cultural Relations and covered countries like Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Latvia, Belgium, Italy, Russia and Iceland with Dr. L. Subramaniam as a bass player. He is a part of a Neo Carnatic Funk Band project called YUJ.
Aalap Raju is a playback singer and bass player from Chennai, India. For movie Ko, he sang a song Enamo Aedho composed by Harris Jayaraj and his this rendition topped the music charts for so many months in 2011. This song made him achieve his first Filmfare Award for best Male Playback Singer 2011. After this, his entire life has changed and he worked with several music directors like G. V. Prakash, Harris Jayaraj, D. Imman, Thaman, Sreekanth Deva and Deepak Dev. Other songs sung by him that all got famous are Kuthu Kuthu from Ayyanar, Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, Endhuko Yemo from Rangam and much more.
