Abdul Qavi Desnavi was born on 01-11-1930 in Desna, Nalanda District in the state of Bihar, India. He is an Indian Writer, Critic, Linguist, Professor & Author.
Abdul Qavi Desnavi Complete Bio & Career
Abdul Qavi Desnavi was born in Bihar and completed his school from the town called Arrah in Bihar. After which, he came to Mumbai and obtained his graduate as well as a post-graduate degree from the famous St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai. He started his professional career as a lecturer at Safia Post Graduate College. He was teaching Urdu there. Subsequently, he became head of the department and after almost 30 years of his service retired in the year 1990.
He was instrumental in exerting a strong influence or Urdu literature in India. He served as a mentor of some of the finest Urdu writers and poets such as Iqbal Masood. He in his lifetime held various prestigious posts like Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Urdu Academy, Bhopal, Member of All India Anjuman Taraqui Urdu Board, New Delhi, Member of Program Advisory Committee, All India Radio, Bhopal, and Chairman of Board of Studies,Urdu, Persian & Arabic, Barkatullah University Bhopal among various others.
For his contribution to Urdu literature, he has been conferred with some prestigious awards. Among his most noted work include a book on freedom fighter Maulana Abul Kalam Azad titled Hayat-e-Abul Kalam Azad. In his glorious career, he has penned down over fifty books on Urdu literature.
