Ajay was born to an actor father. He got acting skills from his father. He did his schooling at Utpal Shanghvi Global School, Mumbai. He was very depressed being overweight during the early days of his career. But later he decided to overcome this problem and spent hours in the gym to get a good physique.
In year 1994, he made his acting debut with the film "Kanoon". He also played important roles in films Ek Aur Ek Gyarah and Yeh Hai Jalwa. In the same year, he also appeared as a child actor on the television show Shriman Shrimati. He played the character named Chintu in this show. He is playing the character Aditya Shekhawat in the show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.
