Anil Baijal was born in Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra, India. He is an Indian IAS Officer, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi & Civil Servant.

Anil Baijal Complete Bio & Career

Anil Baijal is a retired 1969 batch AGMUT (Arunachal-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territory) cadre IAS (Indian Administrative Services) Officer. He is presently the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Delhi. He took charge after former LG resigned suddenly. Baijal has been in charge since 31st December 2016. Known for his extensive knowledge and work-first attitude, Anil Baijal is the 21st LG of Delhi.
He is an alumnus of the University of Allahabad and has completed his post graduation in Arts from there. He also holds a master's degree in development economics from the University of East Anglia. Anil Baijal has also served as Union Home Secretary during Atal Vajpayee regime. While he was home secretary he discharged Dr. Kiran Bedi as Head of Jails citing her non-compliance of Jail Manual. Other than this he has also held the office of Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He was also the Managing Director of Indian Airlines.
At one time he held the post of Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati and was instrumental in launching DD Bharti. He was served as Vice-President of Delhi Development Authority, Commissioner of Goa, Councillor-in-charge of India Aid Mission to Nepal. Prior to retirement in 2006, he held the office of Secretary of Urban Development Ministry. After retirement, he was actively involved in the planning of ?60,000 crore JNNURM (Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission) project initiated by Manmohan Singh. He was also on Board for several multi-national companies, banks and think-tanks like IDFC Bank, Vivekanand  International Foundation etc.
