She remarried Richard Gonzalez on 25-10-1981 and they got separated after some time. Her daughter died at the age of 37 in June 2003 from cancer. Her sister, June Pointer died on 11-04-2006 from cancer. An American singer Issa Pointer is her niece and Sadako Pointer is her grand niece.
