Anu Aggarwal was raised in Chennai. For studies, she came to Delhi and was a gold medalist at Delhi University in Sociology. She started off her career as a VJ and after which, she made her acting debut with the series called Bahane in the year 1988. 
 
She made her silver screen debut with the super hit film Aashiqui in the year 1990. However, her graph fell after that as she didn’t get many meaningful roles after that. After Aashiqui, she appeared in Hindi films like King Uncle, Janam Kundli, and Khal-Naaikaa among others. In addition to Hindi films, she played the lead role in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil venture Thiruda Thiruda in the year 1993. She also starred in Manu Kaul’s acclaimed short film called The Cloud Door in the year 1995. She even posed nude scene in the film. Her last appearance was in the Hindi film Return of Jewel Thief in the year 1996. A career that lasted just 6 years yet had a lot of highs and lows in that. 
 
She met a car accident in the year 1999 and was in a coma for 29 days. Soon after the recovery, she focused only on yoga and self-improvement. She has even travelled to many countries as a sanyasi. She has also turned writer and has written about her life experiences in her book titled "Anusual: Memoir of a Girl Who Came Back from the Dead".
