Anushka Sharma was brought up in Bengaluru, where she completed her schooling and college. She is the daughter of Ajay Kumar Sharma, who is an officer in the Indian Army and her mother's name is Ashima Sharma is a housewife. Anushka Sharma has an elder brother named Karnesh. Anushka relocated to Mumbai, to kick-start her modeling career.
 
She had her initial focus on the modeling career and had no desire towards acting. She started her career as a model at the coveted Lakme Fashion Week by walking the ramp for Wendell Rodricks’s Les Vamps Show and was selected to be Rodricks’s finale model at the Spring Summer 20007 Collection. After which she appeared in commercials like Silk & Shine, Nathella Jewelry, Whisper, and Fiat Palio.
 
After a successful modeling career, she landed in the world of acting with the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi starring opposite the superstar, Shahrukh Khan. The film did amazingly well at the box-office and Anushka too was well received by almost all the critics. Her second film was Badmaash Company, where she starred opposite Shahid Kapoor. Her role was totally different from her first film. Her transformation from a conservative Taani to an independent Bulbul was well appreciated.
 
Her first major commercial success came with the 2010 release, Band Baaja Baaraat, opposite Ranveer Singh who made his acting debut through this film. After this film, she was looked upon as a sought out Actress in the Hindi film industry. She then starred in films like Patiala House, Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, Jab Tak Hain Jaan, and Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola.
 
In 2014 she starred in PK alongside Aamir Khan. This film is one of the most profitable films in the Indian film Industry and she too was heavily praised for her fabulous performance. After working with Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan she starred opposite Salman Khan in Sultan and this film too grossed 300 Crores at the box-office. Thus far PK and Sultan are the biggest hits of her career. Her latest release was Ae Dil Hain Mushkil and Jab Harry Met Sejal. Though she had a brief role her performance in Rajkumar Hirani's Sanjay Dutt's biographical film titled Sanju was highly praised.
 
Apart from acting, she has entered into production as well and her first produced film was NH10 which released in 2015. However, the movie failed at the box-office. Her next produced film Phillauri though was successful at the box-office. She was last seen in Anand L. Rai's romantic film Zero in the year 2018. The film boomed at the box-office. She will be next producing cop drama series for Amazon  Prime Video and film titled Bulbul for Netflix.
