Aruna Sairam was born on 30-10-1952 in Thiruvarur in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. She is an Indian Singer & Vocalist.

Aruna Sairam basically received the musical training from her mother Rajalakshmi Sethuraman, who was a musical disciple of Thanjavoor Sankara Iyer as well as Alathur Brothers. Aruna's father, Shri Sethuraman was a music critic, accommodated many dancers as well as musicians from the North and South India in their family home. When she was young then, she showed an amazing talent for music. At the age of eight, she won her first ever-gold medal at the Shanmukhananda Sabha Competition held in Mumbai. She performed the full convert independently at the age of 14, during the occasion of Rama Navami festival, of Bhajana Samaj.

At the age of 21, she was awarded by Best Young Musician Award, which was organized by the Famed Music Academy in Madras (Chennai). She started to get noticed as a prominent musician of great encouragement and went on to perform in the concerts across the country. She brought her own way to Carnatic music, forming on the universal attractions of Mumbai and, also coevally, on her Guru's true classical musical style. Her musical understandings were enhanced by exposure to the films, western as well as Northern Indian classical music. She received in a new way to concert presentation, extending the sides of the Carnatic collection while surviving strongly rooted in the classical structure and culture of this great art form. National appearance she has had the rare style of performing in such great Indian venues like at Shakthi Sthal, the memorials to Indian Prime Ministers, such as Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi at Vir Bhoomi and Rashtrapati Bhavan.

She has also performed across the PAN India, realizing the richness of the South Indian classical music to people from all professions from major international capitals to the modest villages and rural communities. Her first ever-international exposure as a visiting professor at a German music academy where she taught the South Indian music; it presented her to a new world of opinions and planted new insights. One of the many occurrences, when her dream saw fulfilment, was when she performed at the London's Royal Albert Hall on the invitation of BBC Proms.
