Aysel Gürel was a famous Turkish actress and lyricist. She completed her graduation with a literature degree from Istanbul University. Many singers had performed on the lyrics written by her. She was one of the types. She was at the top in Turkish pop music for the period of 1970 to 2000. She had written lyrics for many legendary singers including Nilüfer, Sertab Erener, Tarkan, and Sezen Aksu.
She came close to her audience through her songs.Though she was a poet at heart, she was blessed with acting skills as well. She was a Turkologist and a drama player. She was known for her work for animal rights and was identified as a feminist. Most of the time the lyricist remain in the background and the singers stole the limelight by performing on the songs, but she was the exception for it. She had her unique way of living. Her dressing sense was accompanied with pink wigs, oversized red glasses, and head-turning outfits. She was quick and good at flirting and with clever repartee. She was as unpredictable as she was unforgettable. She had a wild child within herself.
