Barkha Dutt was born on 18-12-1971 in New Delhi, India. She is an Indian Journalist, TV Host, Editor, Columnist, Writer & Author.

Barkha Dutt Complete Bio & Career

Barkha Dutt is a well-known television journalist from India.She completed her English literature degree from St. Stephen's College in Delhi.Later she completed her Master's in Mass Communications from New Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia Mass Communication Research Center.She began her career in journalism with NDTV and was promoted to the Head of English news wing of the NDTV.She attended  Graduate School of Journalism of Columbia University for a master's degree in journalism with Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation scholarship.

She became a prominent figure after she reported about the Kargil Conflict between Pakistan and India in 1999.She interviewed Captain Vikram Batra.Later she had covered conflicts in Pakistan, Kashmir, Iraq, and Afghanistan.She covered 2002 Gujarat violence and identified victims and attackers as ‘Muslims’ and ‘Hindus’ disobeying the rules and regulations of  Press Council of India.She received negative criticism for her work.She was even blamed that she put the lives of many guests of the hotel during 2008 Mumbai attacks by identifying their position on live TV.She was criticized for soft-pedaling Hindutva in 2011.

She had served as a group editor of NDTV and later became consulting editor in 2015.She left NDTV channel in 2017.She had written for both national and international newspapers columns.She was the host of the weekly talk show ‘We The People ‘ on NDTV and also a daily prime-time show ‘The Buck Stops Here’.

She is a supporter of a Uniform Civil Code and is an agnostic.Her name came in 2010 Radia tapes controversy when Outlook and OPEN published few transcripts of telephone conversations between some senior journalists, corporates, politicians and Nira Radia. These conversations include the one with Barkha Dutt.She has expressed a strong opinion against Muslim patriarchy and Triple Talaq.

She was titled as an Asia Society Fellow for the year 2006 and worked for the International Advisory Council of the Asia Society.Her Sunday talk show won the maximum number of awards on Indian TV and was the winner of 5 consecutive ‘Indian Television Academy award for Best Talk Show’.She received "TV Personality of the year" by Association for International Broadcasting in 2012.She was listed amongst the ‘100 Global Leaders of Tomorrow’ twice in 2001 and 2008.
