Dale Steyn Complete Bio & Career
Dale Steyn is arguably one of the most feared fast bowlers that world cricket has seen. His pace along with swing was his biggest weapon which has helped him get 400+ test wickets at an average of 23. His signature out swinging deliveries which he bowled at over 150K/s was the most soothing sight which he has served his fans in abundance.
He came to the South African fold in 2004 when England toured South Africa. He didn't have a great debut but rubbing shoulders with legends like Shaun Pollock and Makhaya Ntini has a huge help to him. In the initial phase of his career, he was used only in Tests and made his ODI debut after he was included in Africa XI squad for the series against Asia XI. He was initially used as a home weapon as he didn't tour much with the side. However, it was difficult to leave him aside and soon after the retirement of veteran fast bowlers Shaun Pollock and Makhaya Ntini, he started spearheading the bowling attack for South Africa. He along with Morne Morkel became the most feared duo of fast bowlers that any country had. He also became the fastest South African to take 100 Test Wickets and third fastest to 250 wickets of all time.
He was at his mighty best in England and helped South Africa register a test series win in England in 2012. He was the highest wicket-taker in that series. In ODI's as well. he had his share of luck and his 200 ODI wickets have come at an economy rate of less than 5 in an era where scores of 300+ are chased constantly. He due to his skills was always in demand at the IPL auctions during the initial phase of his career. He has played for RCB in the first three seasons and then played for Hyderabad franchise for next few years. He then played for Gujarat Lions for 2 years. He went unsold in 201 IPL player auctions and participated in IPL in 2019 after he was signed in as a replacement of Nathan Coulter Nile by RCB.
As soon as his age started catching up, he too had a fair share of injuries and because of that, he missed out on a lot of cricket after ICC World Cup 2015. He made a comeback into the side just before the ICC 2019 World Cup and will be hoping to get his team over the line for the first time in the mega event.
