He was born to Gladys Huldah and Paul Arnold couple in Hartford. He quit his school and started working on a riverboat and a factory. He was involved in doing odd jobs like a nightclub bouncer, doorman and sheet metal worker for the livelihood until he became a popular actor in Hollywood.
 
Henry Willson was the person who gave Clint Walker a chance to appear in his movie Bowery Boys. With the help of his friend who works in the film industry, he got few more opportunities to appear in movies in small roles. Warner Brothers, who were making western kind of TV series hired him and gave a lead role in one of their TV series Cheyenne. He has also sung many songs for the series.
 
His well-built body along with expert acting skills got him many offers to act in films like Fort Dobbs, Yellowstone Kelly, Gold of the Seven Saints and much more. Even though he was busy making films, he used to act for TV series regularly. He along with another author Kirby Jonas released a western novel Yaqui Gold after working together for more than two years. He did fewer films during the fag stage of his career and his last released film was Small Soldiers which was released in the year 1998. It was his imposing physique that won him a role in the famous series Cheyenne. He was arguably one of the most famous actor during the decade of the 1960s and 1970s.
