Daniil Sergeyevich Medvedev is a next gen Tennis players who has challenged the top 3 (Federer, Djokovic, and Nadal) time and again. His father asked him to take tennis seriously when he was just 6 years old. He enrolled at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations but dropped out to focus on his tennis career. He relocated with his family to France to recieve better training and coaching facilities. He turned pro in 2014 and had to wait till 2017 to enter the main draw at Grand Slams. After some decent performances in 2018, he made it count in 2016 where he reached 6 consecutive finals and broke in top 10 for the first time in his career. He won his first ATP 1000 Masters title at the 2019 2019 Western & Southern Open. In his run to the championship, he defeated Novak Djokovic as well. He also reached the finals of US Open where he lost to Rafael Nadal in 5 sets. He then won his 2nd ATP 1000 Masters by defeating Alexander Zverev at the Sanghai Masters. He qualified for the ATP World Tour Finals for the first time in his career. He though got eliminated after the group stage itself.
 
At 6'6, he is a tall baseliner and is a quick runner as well. He used his reach to good effect and has a solid forehand in his armoury. His flat services are often found difficult to return and after a stellar performance in 2019, he is expected to lead the next gen of Tennis players to overcome the threat that the top 3 posess.
