In the year 2007, Darsheel was given the opportunity to perform in the first Bollywood movie known as Taare Zameen Par. As a matter of fact, he played the movie’s protagonist named as Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi. Most prominently, he was recognized by the famous creative director and scriptwriter – Amol Gupte in the year 2006. Later, he was selected to perform the male lead role in the movie. Moreover, after the extensive search, Darsheel was found in his dance school known as Summer Funk. Since the expression of mischief was carried in the eyes of Darsheel, he became the number one choice of the director and the team during the auditions. Ultimately, his performance as the dyslexic child was appreciated by a large number of audiences as well as the film industry.
 
Due to his brilliant performance in the movie – Taare Zameen Par, he has earned several awards. IndiaFm regarded Darsheel as the prominent character of the movie and the movie completely belongs to him. Later, in the year 2007, he was called for an interview where he proclaimed about his career plans such as becoming the proficient dancer, singer, jewelry designer or a businessman. Consequently, in 2008, he received the Filmfare Critics Award in the category of Best Actor for the movie Taare Zameen Par. In 2012, he took part in the television reality show – Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 5.
