Dutee Chand Complete Bio & Career

Dutee Chand is an Indian sprinter who holds the national record in women’s  100 meters event. It was her elder sister Saraswati who inspired her to take running from a very young age. She rose to prominence after she created the national record in 2012 clocking 11.8 seconds in 100metres. 
 
She again created headlines in 2013 after she became the first athlete to reach the final of a global athletics 100 meters event at the World Youth Championships in 2013. She also created the national records by clocking 11.73 and 23.73seconds in 100 and 200m respectively at the National Senior Athletics Championships. In 2014, she was dropped from Commonwealth and Asian Teams contingent after she was accused of hyperandrogenism. She appealed to the CAS Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2015 and finally returned to the track in 2016 as soon as the hyperandrogenism rule changed. She though missed out on 2016 Rio Olympic berth by one-hundredth of a second. She though didn’t lose hope and at XXVI International Meeting G Kosanov Memorial at Almaty, Kazakhstan, she broke her own record by clocking 11.24 seconds and thereby securing the Rio Olympic berth. She though couldn’t do much at the Olympics as she didn’t move beyond the heats. 
 
She though created history at the 2018 Asian games where she bagged 2 silver medals in 100 and 200m respectively. After this achievement of her, she was given INR 3 crores by the government of Orissa. She has also qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and will be India’s hope for bringing home a medal.
