Eric Prabhakar Complete Bio & Career

Eric Prabhakar was born in a family famous for its procurement in sports and in the field of education. Eric chiselled an accomplished career in academics and sports at the Madras Christian College. He was the representation of MCC and the toast of the college in countless encounters. His timing of 10.7s in sprints was held by him for years.
 
The biggest highlight of Eric’s athletics career was the Olympic Games in London in 1948. He was the first for independent India; Prabhakar represented India in the 100 meters sprint with significance. He advanced to the quarterfinals with a record timing of 10.3 seconds, missing out on the medal by just 0.3 seconds.
 
In addition to Athletics, he was a graduate in Economics. Eric denied a chance to enter the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He though mastered a rare credit of earning the distinguished the Rhode's Scholarship at Oxford and in the process became the first ever Indian to achieve this feat.
 
At Oxford, Eric chased athletics with an unalloyed zeal which led him into run shoulders with several top players. One such athlete was Dr. Roger Bannister, who was the first man to break the four-minute barrier for the mile and was arguably an icon of British athletics.
 
In addition to academics and athletics, he has also penned down a novel titled “The Way to Athletics Gold,” with an introduction by Dr. Bannister is a magnificent dexterity for coaches of any generation.
