Esther Duflo was born on 25-10-1972 in Paris, France. She is a French-born American Economist, Researcher, Professor, Writer, Author, Managing Director & Co-founder of J-Pal (Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab). She won the 2019's Nobel Memorial Prize along with her husband Abhijit Banerjee.

Esther Duflo Complete Bio & Career

Esther Duflo was born and raised in France. She has degrees in history and economics from the École Normale Supérieure, Paris, and a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She is a professor in the MIT department of economics, and a co-founder and co-director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, a network of researchers whose mission is to reduce poverty by ensuring that policy is informed by scientific evidence.
 
Her economic research mainly focuses on  microeconomic issues in developing countries, including  education, household behavior, access to health, finance, and policy evaluation. Along with her husband and colleagues, she has done her bit in promoting field experiments as an important methodology to discover causal relationships in economics. She along with her husband has co-authored various books and has earned a lot of recognition as well. The most notable of them being the Nobel Prize for Economics which she won in 2019 along with her husband and veteran economist Michael Kremer.
