Fantasia Barrino Complete Bio & Career

She emerged as the winner in the third season of Fox Network’s popular television singing reality show ‘American Idol’ in 2004. Later she signed with J Records with 19 Entertainment and started working on her debut studio album. She became the first artist to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot100 with a first single when she released her debut single ‘I Believe’. It was the best-selling single in the United States in 2004. The single also fetched Fantasia three Billboard Music Awards. In November 2004, she released her debut studio album ‘Free Yourself’ which was received very well and sold over two million copies across the globe. A couple of singles from the album peaked on the Billboard Hot R&B songs charts and also on the Billboard Hot Adult R&B Airplay. She had also earned three nominations at Grammy Awards for the album. She released her second album ‘Fantasia’ in December 2006 and the single ‘When I See You’ turned out to be her first single to peak at the top position on the Billboard Hot R&B songs chart, where it remained for over a year.  Her other albums are ‘Back To Me’, ‘Side Effects of You’ and ‘The Definition of..’. She won the Grammy Award for ‘Best Female R&B Vocal Performance’ for her single ‘Bittersweet’ in 2011.
 
She also appeared in her autobiography based film ‘The Fantasia Barrino Story: Life is Not a Fairy Tale’ which has become the second most viewed program of all time on Lifetime Television. Her other television appearances include ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’, ‘The Color Purple’, ‘After Midnight’, and ‘All of Us'. She was ranked at the 32nd position on the list of the ‘100 Greatest Women in Music’ by VH1. She was inducted into the ‘North Carolina Music Hall of Fame’ in October 2014.
