Gurmeet Bawa is a legendary Punjabi folk singer. She lost her mother when she was just 2 years old. She was born in an era where girls were not allowed to study but she changed the narrative as she became the first girl from her village to pass J.B.T. exams and became the first lady teacher in her village. 

It was after her marriage that she decided to focus in her singing career. Her husband motivated her to work hard and put all her concentration on singing. She then sang various superhit Punjabi songs and made her niche for herself not just in Punjabi industry but among Bollywood stars as well. She was repeatedly ask to sing main jatti Punjab di, meri Nargis wargi akh by legendary Bollywood actor Raj Kapoor. She has also performed at various international stages and most notable of them being Thailand Culture Center in Bangkok and the 25th Jashan-E-Azadi festival in Tripoli.
