Hailee Steinfeld is an American actress and singer who rose to fame with her critically acclaimed debut role in the movie “True Grit” for which she was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress in 2010 at the age of 14 years. Her role as Mattie Ross, which she got after multiple auditions beating a large number of other actresses, in the movie is still remembered and cherished by her fans globally.
 
She was born in Tarzana, California to Cheri, an interior decorator, and Peter, a personal fitness trainer.  She began her acting career at the tender age of eight and has continuously impressed audiences with her performances. She was also a cheerleader for over 8 years. However, the Oscar nomination in 2010 changed her life overnight. In 2011, she was cast to play Juliet in an adaption of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. After the initial success, there was no looking back for the actress. She moved from strength to strength and continued working in a lot of movies carrying out various roles skillfully and working with leading co-actors. She excelled in a number of off-beat roles and came up with memorable performances. Her major hits include Begin Again and Enders Game, 3 Days to Kill, The Homesman, and The Keeping Room. She is comfortable with doing teenage movies as well act in Sci-Fi movies at equal ease. Her work in the superhero movies Spiderman and Bumblebee has been widely appreciated.
 
In 2015, she joined the Pitch Perfect franchise in its second season and started her career in the world of music. The musical Pitch Perfect 2 was a perfect opener grossing the highest for a musical movie at that time. After the release of her song, she signed contracts with Republic Records for songs.  She premiered in platinum debut single “Love Myself”. Although she didn’t release a full-length album, she did a large number of standalone songs in collaboration with leading singers. Many of her songs got featured in the Billboard of Top 100 songs. “Rock Bottom”, ”All the Best”, “Capital Letters”, ”Starving", “Most Girls”, "Let Me Go, etc. are some of the hit albums featuring Steinfeld. Pop songs by Hailee were hit and appeared in the charts of hit songs not only in the US but also in far-off countries like Canada, New Zealand, and Sweden. Since she is a singer as well as an actress par excellence, her music videos are something people look forward to and have been viewed by millions of viewers. “Starving” has been Steinfeld’s biggest musical hit.
 
Her music career didn’t derail her career as an actress. In 2016, she starred in the teenage comedy “The Edge of Seventeen” where her performance was adjourned highly by the audience and she was nominated for Best Actress in a Motion Picture at the Golden Globe Awards.
 
In spite of having achieved such following and adulation at a young age, the actress is incredibly down to earth. In the future, she plans to be on the other side of the camera and produce or direct movies.  Hailee Steinfeld is also known to support a vast number of charities that are focused on improving the lives of children.
