Harsh Vardhan often referred as Dr. Harsh Vardhan. He holds a masters degree in Master of Surgery in Otorhinolaryngology from the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College, Kanpur in the year 1983. He was associated with the RSS from a very young age and therefore was offered Delhi seat duing the 1993 state elections from Krishna Nagar constituency by BJP. During his first term, he was made the Education Minister in Delhi State Assembly cabinet and was also made the health minister.
He became a highly popular figure and was best known for his clean image. He held on to his post for the next 5 terms and was served as an MLA from Krishna Nagar Constituency from 1993 to 2014. In 2014 general elections, he was given a Lok Sabha tocket from Chandini Chowk constituency of Delhi. He was up against incumbent Kapil Sibal but still managed to win the seat with some margin. Soon after BJP's forming the government, he was made the Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare. After the death of veteran BJP leader, Anil Madhav Dave. he was also made the Minister of Enviornment, Forest and Climate Change. In the 2019 general elections, he was again fielded by BJP from the same constituency and he again won it with an even bigger margin.
