Hasan Minhaj was born in an Islam family in Davis. He obtained his graduate degree from the University of California in Davis. During his college time, he got interested in comedy after he watched Never Sacred. After completion of his graduation, he started travelling to perform in San Francisco and other places. He won 'Best Comic Standing' competition in 2008 organized by San Francisco's radio channel 94.9. As a reward, he got to perform an opening act for Katt Williams, Gabriel Iglesias, and Pablo Francisco. He also did a part-time job at Ning Website as well.
He started appearing in short films and that is how he made his acting debut. He started off his acting career with the short film True Stories from My Crappy Childhood in the year 2010. He made his full-fledged debut through American film Rough Night in the year 2017. In 2018, he starred in two films such as Most Likely to Murder, and The Spy Who Dumped Me.
In addition to films, he has become one of the most famous American television personality. He started off his small screen career with by appearing in the talk show called The Wanda Sykes Show in the year 2010. He then participated in the reality show Disaster Date in 2011. He came to limelight after he did the late night talk show called The Daily Show in the year 2014. He did over 100 episodes and was associated with the show till 2018. Since 2018, he has been hosting the American web show called Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj.
