IVAN LENDL, former World No. 1 professional tennis player and at present coach of the current world no. 1 tennis player Andy Murray alongside Jamie Delgado. He has been best described as the world best tennis player of all the time.He was born in Czechoslovakia (presently the Czech Republic). He became the national age group champion at a very young age when he was just 12 and defeated his mother for the first time when he was 14.
 
He was a basher from the baseline, relied on his strength and heavy topspin, he wasn't particularly stylish but got the job done with an intimidating will and appetite for victory. His anticipation and speed afoot were often overlooked. He loves fishing and he is a great traveller.
 
Being a successful coach and tennis player holds a great position among his professional stage. He has a fine salary and planning to contribute some part of his earning to social activities in coming days. Ivan is interested in working for street children.
 
In 1981, he moved to US for which Czechoslovakia's Tennis Association considered him as an “illegal defector”. He won all the ten ‘World Championship Tennis’ (‘WCT’) tournaments he competed in, in 1984 he won his first Grand Slam title beating John McEnroe in the ‘French Open’. he has captured eight Grand Slam singles titles.
 
He retired from his play in 1994 because of chronic back pain and he is a right-handed player.He also used Adidas clothing and Kneissi racquets. He retired with 94 career single titles, 6 doubles titles, five year-end championships and 270 weeks at no.1 - putting him third on the all-time list behind Pete Sampras and Roger Federer.
 
He retired from professional tennis in 1994 and post-retirement; he opened his tennis academy and also took up the coaching job. He is currently coaching the World Number 1, Andy Murray. He has played a significant role in improving Murray’s game.
