It was in the year 2004 when James became popular all over the world with the music album named Back to Bedlam. His songs from the album ‘You’re Beautiful’ and ‘Goodbye My Lover’ was a massive hit. The album sold over 11 million copies worldwide and was a huge sensation among all. It was marked as the best-selling album in the UK. James graduated in the year 1996 from the University of Bristol. He joined British Army in the year 1996 and was commissioned to Life Guard. He was promoted to captain there.
 
James has received many awards for his singing performance including the nominations for Grammy Award five times. He learned to play Piano and Violin at his early age and then was interested in learning electric Guitar at the age of 14. In the year 2002, he left the army and entered into the Music Industry to pursue his career in it. After two super hits album, he released his third album ‘Some Kind of Trouble’ in 2010. This album didn't enjoy the same success but this albums songs like ‘If Time Is All I Have’ and ’Stay the Night’ became hit. His last studio album thus far was titled "The After Love" which released in 2017. He is a charitable person and also has been a part of several concerts for the Charity whose amount collected would go to serve the wounded British Servicemen. He is also a huge supporter of environmental causes.
