K. Ayyappa Paniker Complete Bio & Career

Ayyappa Paniker’s lost his mother when he was just 12 years old. His stint with writing started when he was studying in high school. When he was 16, he published his first poem in Mathrubhoomi weekly. He completed his intermediate from Malabar Christian College in Kozhikode. He then obtained his graduate and post graduate degree from the University College in Thiruvananthpuram. Soon after completion of his graduation, he joined CMS College in Kottayam as a lecturer of English. He then also worked in University College and Mahatma Gandhi College. 
 
He worked as a professor in different colleges and finally retired as the director at the Institute of English from the University of Kerala. He has published more than 25 works including essays, translations, and poetry as well. Throughout his literal career, he has been felicitated with various awards including Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Kendra Sahitya Akademi, and Padma Shri Award. Some of his noted works include Ayyappapanikkarude Krithikal, Chintha, and Kurukshethram among others.
