Kanika was born on 03-07-1982 in Madurai in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. She is an Indian Film Actress, Voice Artist, Playback Singer, Singer, Television Presenter & Television Actress who is known for her work in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu cinema.

Kanika Complete Bio & Career

Kanika’s actual name is Divya Venkatasubramaniam. She completed her schooling at TVS Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Madurai. She was a bright student academically and won numerous awards including the Tamil Nadu State Award for Educational Excellence in the year 1999. She on the basis of her merit got admission in one of the best engineering institutes in India called BITS, Pilani. She obtained her Mechanical Engineering Degree from there. 
 
She was into singing from an early age and during her school and college days, she participated in numerous light music and pop music shows. She entered the Miss Chennai competition in 2001 to give a stage performance but after one of the models backed out she entered the competition and even though, she didn’t had any previous modelling experience she still emerged as the winner of the contest. After this win, she started getting movie offers. 
 
She changed her screen name to Kanika and made her cinematic debut with the Tamil film Five Star in 2002. She played the typical village girl’s role in this film which was well received. A year later, she made her Telugu film debut with the film Ottesi Cheputunna in 2003. She changed her screen name to Sravanthi in this film. She then entered the Kannada film industry with the film titled Annavaru. She was lauded for her performance in the big budget Tamil film Varalaru. She was cast alongside Ajith Kumar and Asin in this film.  
 
She decided to give up her acting career after her marriage but made a comeback with the Malayalam film Bhagyadevatha in 2009. For her performance, she won her first nomination under the category of Best Actress. Since her comeback, she has been regular in the Malayalam film industry and some of her noted Malayalam film include Bavuttiyude Namathil, How Old Are You and Cobra among many others. 
 
In addition to the silver screen, she has also worked as the dubbing artist and has lent her voice for non-Tamilactressess like Sadha, Genelia and Shriya Saran.
