She was previously working as a waitress, receptionist and once worked at OK! Magazine. She previously performed under the name Kate Vogel on the series Green Eyed World and also signed a recording contract with the name Lola Fontaine. 
 
In 2010, she auditioned for the coveted television show The X Factor. She sang  "At Last" by Etta James, "We Are The Champions" and Adele's "Make You Feel My Love". She finished 7th but garnered enough limelight. 
 
In 2012 she released her, self-titled album. She formed a band named Red Velvet. The band released their debut song "I'm Fine" in 2013. After which the band released three more songs "High Fashion", "F*ck You" and "Say It".
 
In 2016, Katie participated as a contestant in Celebrity Big Brother 18. She finished at the eighth position.
