Kevin Gates actual name is Kevin Jerome Gilyard. In addition to singing, he has also made his individuality as an entrepreneur. He is currently among the most distinguished hip-hop artists in America. With his unique rapping style, he has gain fans from across the globe. 
 
As a young boy, he was highly inspired by veteran rappers such as Hot Boy$ and Master P and himself started rapping from the young age of 14. With time, he started performing at the local stages and was well received wherever he performed. 
 
He began partnering with fellow artists Lil Boosie and Webbie and composed tracks with them. He got a huge applaud for his track ‘Get in the Way’ in the year 2008 and that was among his initial hit songs. He then paired up with veteran Lil Wayne and began working under Young Money Entertainment wing. Spin Magazine rated his mingle The Luca Brasi Story as “easily the best rap-related thing” in 2013. The very same year, he released his street album titled Stranger Than Fiction. This album’s track “Wylin” was heavily appreciated. His single “Kno One” which was released in 2014 needs a special mention. He incorporated this song in his debut studio album titled Islah which was released in 2016. This album was named after her daughter Islah. 
 
He was sent to prison after a woman lodged a complaint against him for kicking her and the video footage of that incident went viral.
