Lavrenti Lopes was raised in Mumbai and completed his education from there. Since childhood, he dreamt of pursuing acting as a career and also followed Bollywood and Hollywood film industry from an early age. To pursue his dreams, he enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Film and Theatre Institute in 2007. He relocated to the US and became highly active in theatres. While working in theatre, he did few television commercials as well. 
 
He appeared in Tata True Roots Calling Card and immediately drew attention. His commercial literally went viral in print media as well as social media. This commercial helped him to take a step closer towards his dreams. He approached several Hindi filmmakers but made his acting debut through Hollywood film titled subHysteria in 2011. His romantic comedy film Love, Lies, and Seeta earned him widest recognition. 
 
In addition to movies, he has also appeared in few international television series such as The Wedding Band(TBS), Review with Forest Macneil, Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 and New Girl.
