Laxmikant Berde, popularly known by his nickname "Lakshya" was a famous, highly energetic Indian actor of Marathi films. He had worked in many Hindi movies as well. He was known to be the "King of Comedy" of Marathi movies.
 
He was interested in acting from childhood. He used to participate in many drama competitions and was involved in many plays. He started his career while working with 'Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh'. He worked in many Marathi plays before his film debut, His film career started with the movie' Lek Chalali Sasarla'. He received fame with "Toor-Toor", a Marathi stage play.
 
He worked in films De Dana Dan and Dhoom Dhadaka with actor  Mahesh Kothare. These films were hit and he was branded as Comedy superstar and gained fame overnight. He continued his good work and ruled the Marathi industry till 2000 with his moviesHamaal De Dhamaal, Aamhi Doghe Raja Rani, Balache Baap Brahmachari, Bhootacha Bhau, Eka Peksha Ek, Thartharat, Zapatlela, and Dhadakebaaz.
 
He tried to change from comic to serious role with a movie, ''Ek Hota Vidushak' but failed in it. Again he started on his trademark comedy movies. He was featured along with actor Ashok Saraf and director-actor Mahesh Kothare in most of his films. Also his wife Priya Arun was featured in most of his movies.
 
He also played many supporting roles in Hindi film industry being 'Maine Pyar Kiya ' the first one. He later worked in movies like Mere Sapno Ki Rani, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Saajan, Aarzoo, and much more. He also continued acting in Marathi plays. He worked in "Shantecha Karta Chalu Aahe", a Marathi stage play. He was also a very good guitar player and ventriloquist. Actor Ashok Saraf was one of his close friends.
