Martina Hingis started playing tennis from a very young age and turned pro even before turning 14. She along with her doubles partner Helena Sukova won Wimbledon’s doubles title at the young age of 15 and this became the youngest ever Grand Slam champion of all time. She then became the youngest player ever to lift the coveted Grand Slam singles trophy and in the process also became the youngest player ever to become world number 1 replacing the legendary Steffi Graff in 1997.
 
She also won the Wimbledon and US Open titles that year and also successfully defended her Australian Open title the following year and various other WTA titles that she won that year and remained at the top of the rankings for 209 weeks. A series of injuries forced her to retire at the young age of 23 in 2003. She made a successful comeback in 2006 when she partnered Mahesh Bhupathi at the 2006 Australian Open mixed doubles. Again in 2007, she was tested positive for cocaine and was suspended for two years by ITF. She again made a comeback in 2013 and this time only on the doubles circuit. She after making comeback first won the Australian Open mixed doubles titles with Leander Paes and that year she won three mixed doubles title with him and created a feat which was last achieved by Margaret Court and Marty Riessen in the year 1969 and also formed a formidable doubles pair with Sania Mirza. Together they were referred as “Santina”. She also won the Silver medal at the 2016 Olympics in Women’s doubles event. She and Sania Mirza parted ways before the beginning of 2017 season and she has now formed her doubles fair with Chan Yung-Jan of Taiwan.
