Melanie Janine Brown or Mel B as she is popularly known, is a pop singer born in West Yoskshire, England. The 42-year old singer began her career with her album with Missy Elliott 'I want you Back'. The album became an instant hit and soared to Number 1 on UK Singles Chart. Since then she has been rolling high on her career. Mel B is a singer, writer, actor, composer, dancer, model and songwriter. She is highly talented and her being on Top of the Charts prove the fact.
In 1994, she joined a girls only group named Spice Girls that released various albums and songs. During the next 5 years she worked closely with Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel C while the quintet performed together and did numerous stage shows. In 2000, she released her debut solo album named 'Hot'.
Then in late 2001 came the time when her songs did not perform well. She was even removed from Virgin's label. In 2002, she penned down her autobiography named Catch a Fire, which was ranked No. 7 on UK Book Charts. After this she acted in various movies, her debut being Burn It. She acted in films of various genres before going back to recording her own songs. She appeared in the lead role in Telling Lies and went on to release her first original album through a independent label, Amber Cafe. Although the album wasn't a commercial success, it sold decent number of copies.
Mel then appeared as judge in various reality shows like Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, Dance your Ass Off, X-Factor etc.
