Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the ruler of Dubai. He is the Vice President, Minister of Defense, and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. He came to power after his elder brother died in the year 2006. He went to Al Ahmedia School, Al Shaab School, and Dubai Secondary School. He also attended the Bell Educational Trust's English Language School and the Mons Officer Cadet School. He spent some time in Italy training to be a pilot.
 
Two companies are owned by him which is Dubai World and Dubai Holding. The latter manages various industries like real estate, business parks, and telecommunications. He also has a controlling interest in Meraas Holding which develops Legoland and a movie theme park that is based on Bollywood. The Sheikh was in charge of Dubai Civil Aviation in the 1970s. In the year 1985, he was part of the launch of Emirates airline. It was a $10 million project and the first flight of it was in 1985. It has grown since then to become one of the top airlines in the world.
 
A few years later, he was the one to inaugurate the first airshow in Dubai. In the year 1991, he founded the Dubai Ports International which was used to explore acquisitions and contracts around the world. The Burj Al Arab was created after the Sheikh wanted to create an iconic piece of real estate. It describes itself to be the most luxurious hotel in the world. He opened the Burj Khalifa in 2010 which is the tallest building in the world. This building contains the world’s largest shopping mall when compared to total area. It is the Dubai Mall.
