Monica Complete Bio & Career
At the age of two, Monica went to sing along with her mother in the choir of the church they attended. After preparing vocally on his own, she joined Charles Thompson & the Majestic’s, a Gospel choir, being the youngest member with only 10 years. Monica began working on her debut album with Dallas Austin, as well as other producers such as Soulshock & Karlin, Daryl Simmons, Tim & Bob, among others. The LP, titled Miss Thang, was released on July 18, 1995. Their first single, "Do not Take It", became a hit in North America (No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and # 1 on the Billboard Hot R & B / Hip-Hop singles) and in other countries such as Australia, New Zealand, and the Netherlands.
This single had reached to the platinum certification for more than 1 million copies sold. Monica released her second and third "Before You Walk out Of My Life" / "Like This and Like That”, which would become# 1 for the singer in the R & B and Top 10 charts in the Hot 100, in addition to being Top 25 in the United Kingdom and Top 10 in New Zealand. Monica releases her second album, curiously titled "The Boy Is Mine”. With the production of Dallas Austin, Jermaine Dupri, Darkchild, and Daryl Simmons, the album debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200. The first single, “All Eyez on Me" did not have an expected success. She only reached the 69th position of the Hot 100, although she was successful in other parts of the world such as Japan, Australia, Germany, and New Zealand. Monica captured her new experiences on her fifth LP, entitled "The Makings Of Me” produced by Jermaine Dupri, Missy Elliott, Bryan Michael Cox, and The Underdogs, was released on October 3, 2006, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Top R & B / Hip-Hop Albums, and No. 8 on the Billboard 200.
Monica completed the production of her sixth album, entitled Still Standing. The American chain BET decided to film the recording process of the album, titled "Monica: Still Standing", reality show whose debut was the second highest in ratings in the history of the television network. This success also accompanied the first single, "Everything to Me", produced by Missy Elliott. The record reached # 1 on the Billboard R & B / Hip-Hop songs, becoming its sixth number one on the list, and making Monica the first artist in history to get a No. 1 in the 90s, 2000s, and 2010. The album was released on March 23, 2010, with first sales of more than 183,000 copies, and No. 2 of the Billboard 200. The second single of the album, will be "Here I Am", produced by Polow Da Don and his version for radio will be collaborated with Jamie Foxx.
