Mouni Roy mother "Mukti Roy" is also an artist who mainly performs in theatrical plays and father Anil Roy is a govt servant at the post of (Superintendent) in "Bihar Zila Parishad."Mouni got the acting inheritance from her grandfather, Shekhar Chandra Roy, who had contributed to "Jetra Theater" for many years and was a scientifically brilliant theatre artist. From "Kendriya Vidyalaya" She did her graduation. After the completion of her graduation, her parents were intended to see their daughter be a journalist, and due to their firm decision, she got admission to "Jamia Milia Islamia" college for the mass communication degree. She did not want to pursue her career as a journalist and always dreamed of becoming an actress with this ambition she relocated to Mumbai to try her fate in cinema.
 
Her first most significant break in the cinema was from the Ekta Kapoor family drama " Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi," in which she played the character of Krishnatulsi. Then after many offers came across her way she eagerly opted for every offer to accelerate her career, and she participated in "Zara Nachke Dikha" Karishma Tanna as well as Jennifer Winget was also active participant in the show. In the show Kasturi, in which she played the role of Shivani. In 2009, In the year 2010, she became part of the reality show" Pati Patna Aur Woh" in which tv artist "Gaurav Chopra" was her partner. Her role roop in the daily soap " Do Saheliyaan" was also got acknowledged.
 
Mouni was noticed by her audience and got recognization for her acting when she played the role of Sati in the "Devon Ke Dev ... Mahadev" (Life ok mythological show) aired ( 2011 to 2014). In 2013 she offered another lead role in "Junos - Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq" in which she played the role of Meera opposite the male lead" Aditya Redij."She also took part in the dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa," and choreographer Punit Pathak was her dance partner she got evicted from the show after surviving for three months. Mouni gained the name and fame and became the most popular face of Tv when she played the role of Shivanya opposite male lead Arjun Bijlani and sec lead of the show Adaa Khan in a significant manner.
 
She is also a member of "Arjun Bijlani's" cricket team " Mumbai Tigers:" and she also takes participates in the celebrities cricket league "box cricket league". Mouni also became the part of  Naagin-2 in which she had a "double role." However, due to her Bollywood film schedule, she is no longer part of the franchise. In 2018, Akshay Kumar's " Gold " which is directed by Reema Kagti and through this film she is having her Bollywood debut. In 2019, she was seen in the much-acclaimed Bollywood film Made In China opposite Rajkumar Rao. She will be next seen in Bollywood films Mogul and Brahmastra.
