Mukhyamantri Chandru was born on 28th August 1953 in Mysore, Karnataka, India. He is an Indian Actor and Politician. He is an adaptable actor, very flexible and can play comedy roles and can switch to serious parts as a villain. He is one of the best-supporting actors in the Kannada Film Industry. Mukhya Mantri was actually a popular Kannada drama in which he was in the lead role, during the 1970s and 1980s, his popularity grew with that drama and resulted in getting the prefix to his real name.

Mukhyamantri Chandru started his acting career with the film Chakravyuha in the year 1983, where he played the role of a negative politician. One of his more memorable roles is his role as the masterful landlord in the comedy movie Ganeshana Maduve. 
 
Chandru began his political career in the year 1985 under the then Chief Minister of Karnataka, Ramakrishna Hegde. He won from Gauribidanur constituency and was elected as MLA for the first time. Four Year later in 1989, he contested for Loksabha elections but had to taste defeat. After which he left Janta Dal and joined Bharatiya Janta Party in 1994. He held his position as a cabinet minister of Kannada Development Authority. After his rift within the party, he resigned as a member of BJP in 2013.
 
He was married to the Padma in 1983 and the couple is blessed with two sons, Sharath Chandru and Bharath Chandru. He has been conferred as a Doctorate from Gulbarga University for his cultural, social and language concerns and services.
