Om Raut was born on 21 December 1981 in Mumbai. By profession, he is a writer, director, and producer. He works for the Bollywood and Marathi industry. He received his education from Syracuse university situated in New York. He hails from a family of filmmakers and journalists. Om came into the industry as a child actor. As a child, he has acted in numerous theatre plays and ad films.
He made his debut with a film titled, Karamati Coat in 1993. His talent was widely appreciated across the globe. He directed the film, Lokmanya: Ek Yug Purush in 2015 and the movie was such a big hit that he won the Filmfare award for the best director. Films like the city of gold and haunted-3D were also produced by him. He also served as a writer for MTV networks situated in New York. He was also the vice president at a valuable group which is widely known as the world’s largest satellite-based digital distribution platform.
DAR motion pictures also hired Om as their creative head. He along with his mother co-founded Neena Raut entertainment in 2012. The movie, Lokmanya: Ek Yug Purush was Om’s dream project. The movie is based on the life of a social reformer named, Bal Gangadhar Tilak. An extensive amount of 1.3 crores was spent on bringing the visual effects of the film into focus. Making of the film took three years of research and planning. Recently in 2020, he directed a movie named, Tanhaji which is an action film with the star cast named, Ajay Devgan, Kajol, and Saif Ali Khan. He also announced his intention of making a film with Prabhas on 18 August 2020 titled, Adipurush.
