P Rajagopal was a very successful businessman. He is the founder of SaravanaBhavan which is a chain of restaurants. The restaurant is famous all over Tamil Nadu and is one of the best restaurants for enjoying South Indian cuisines. He was not a big intellect but with his hard work, he made a big success in business and now he was known all over the globe for his chain of restaurants.
P Rajagopal belongs from a rural area in Tamil Nadu. He did not receive proper education in his childhood. His father was a farmer who plied onion wholesale trade. In childhood, he used to live in a very small village of Tuticorin District.
After a few years, P Rajagopal moved to Chennai. Initially, he started working in a general provision store in KK Nagar. By the year 1981, he opened a small restaurant in KK Nagar.
In 2001 P Rajagopal was convicted of crimes like murder and sexual harassment. He tried to marry the daughter of one of his employees for the third time. The proposal got rejected as the women were already married. That was the time the reputation of SaravanaBhavan faced backlash. The founder was convicted of murder and kidnapping charges. In 2001, he was given a life imprisonment sentence. But was released on bail due to his health issues. Later on 7 July, the court gave him strict orders to surrender. He again appealed for bail due to health issues. But his appeal was rejected and he was told to surrender on 7th July.

He died on 18-07-2019 at Vijaya Hospital, Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. He was 72-73 years old. On 13-07-2019, he had a heart attack and was admitted to Stanley Medical College, Chennai. Later, he was shifted to Vijaya Hospital, Chennai and he died on 18-07-2019.
