Paoli Dam first appearance was in a Bengali TV serial tilted Jibon NiyeKhela followed by other Bengali serials like Tithir Atithi, Sonar Harin, among others. Most of her childhood days were spent in Kolkata where she obtained her postgraduate degree in chemistry. Her childhood dream was to become either a chemical researcher or a pilot but later she made her acting debut the Bengali film titled Teen Yaari Katha. The film was directed by Sudeshna Roy and Abhijit Guha. This film started in the year 2004, but due to some reasons, it was not released for some 7-8 years.
Her first film that was released was Agnipariksha under the direction of Rabi Kinagi. In almost 4 years after making her debut, she made an appearance in 5 Bengali films. One of her films that were released in 2009, called Kaalbelathat was directed by the famous director Goutam Ghose, took her career to unimaginable heights.
It was in the year 2011, her talent was recognized at an International scale with the release of the film Chatrak. Not only was this film nominated for the screening of the Cannes film festival, plus many more international film festivals that were organized in Toronto and the United Kingdom.
Her first Bollywood movie Hate story was released in 2012. Then her career started growing with more films and stories like Ankur Arora Murder Case of Vikram Bhatt that was directed by Sohail Tatari. Over the years, she won many awards and accolades for her brilliant performances.
