Paravai Muniyamma was a Tamil folk singer and actress who prominently plays supporting roles. Appearing in many Tamil films, she had also sung in films as well as had her own cook show on Kalaignar TV. Her acting career started off with a role in Dhool (2003), which garnered her a cult status. Since then she had appeared in over 50 films, usually playing grandmother roles.She had completed 2,000 stage performances on folk songs, which also includes shows in London, Singapore and Malaysia. In addition to acting, she also earned a niche for herself by singing folk songs. Off late though, she had remain ill and Tamil film fraternity has come forward in her support. Actor Dhanush took care of her medical expenses. She was awarded Kalaimamani for the year of 2012 by Govt. of Tamilnadu in the year 2019.
