Kjellberg began studying economics and technology management at Chalmers College of Technology in 2008. However, he was not intended to continue his studies so finally, he dropped out of college in 2011. Later, he moved with his girlfriend Marzia Bisognin, better known under her pseudonym CutiePieMarzia, in her native Italy. 
 
In December 2006, he launched its first YouTube channel under the name PewDie. The channel PewDiePie created in April 2010. And up to 2012, his channel began to gain heavily on subscribers. He reached on the number of one million subscribers on July 11, 2012, and in September 2012, his channel had two million subscribers. In the same following year, he was nominated for an Internet contest for King of the Web. Kjellberg won the competition and donated the prize to the world wildlife Fund. On September 14, 2013, he released the song Jabba the Hutt, in the collaboration with Schmoyoho, on iTunes.
 
On January 12, 2014, he reached 20,215,138 subscribers. He was next to YouTube Spotlight the most subscribed YouTube channel. He received the World Record Award for this title. As of June 6, 2014, the number of subscribers was 27,538,462, about 5 million more than the YouTube Spotlight at that time. This makes it the most subscribed YouTube channel. On July 3, 2015, it was announced that PewDiePie grossed some SEK 63 million ($ 7.5 million) in 2014 through advertising revenue both inside and outside of YouTube. Its popularity continued to increase after the controversy, sometimes with over 1 lacs new subscribers per day. In 2017, he reached number 6 in the Forbes list of the best earning You tuber, after he had been in the previous year still in first place. In March 2019, he was dethroned as the most popular YouTuber by T-Series.
