Pooja Bhalekar was born and raised in Mumbai. She was never interested in studies. She was interested in sports activities from her childhood. She started Yoga in her childhood and became a 400 meters sprint athlete. Then, she shifted to Taekwondo, a form of martial arts. On 28-05-2004, she participated in the 18th Maharashtra Sub-junior Taekwondo Championship and won the Gold medal at the state level. In the same year, she won a Gold medal at the National level in Oct 2004. She never looks back and continues her martial-art journey and won many state/national level Gold medals.
She came to the limelight after she was roped in to play the lead role in Ram Gopal Verma's Indo-Chinese film titled "Enter The Girl Dragon". She had to go through intensive training sessions and learn various martial arts tricks as well to prepare for her role in the film. The audience went berserk as soon as the first trailer launched as India's first martial arts film in November 2019. First, it was declared that the film will be released on 13-12-2019 with positive reviews.
But, the film was not released on time due to the name title being matched with Bruce Lee's movie Enter the Dragon (1973). Then, the film name was renamed "Ladki: Enter the Girl Dragon" and again it was renamed "LADKI". The film officially is set for a worldwide release on 27-11-2021. But the film was again not released on time. Finally, the film was released under the title of "LADKI: Dragon Girl" on 15-07-2022 with positive reviews on 40000 screens.
